BLOG #2 Jack Selzner

Selzner convinces me that he has done extensive careful observation, because of how in depth his description of Nelsons writing practices are. He goes into Nelsons education, then talks about where he lives and exactly what he does. This article is very convincing because he goes into Nelsons writing style, which by the article he comes up with the main idea, gets all of his points out there then doesn't think twice about changing it. A lot of my writing is done like that. Selzner also goes into Nelson's arrangement style in his papers. Nelson creates an outline, then marks groups and sub groups. When he drafts he uses pen and paper, a lot of times he uses material that he has written previously. He makes an important point at the end, he states that just because this is what Nelson does that it isn't exactly the writing process of all engineers. Many can do it another way. I feel that he went through every step of the writing process to show us this that it proves that he definitely did all the extensive research necessary to make this article work.

  1. Great point here to note the "in-depth descriptions." We're going to return to that point much later in the semester when we talk about "thick description."
