Describe the features, functions, and student activity of a textbook for a single field, such as American History. Write a paper analyzing the genre.
History was one of my favorite subjects in high school. I think that a big thing for me was using the chapters to go through history as if it were on a timeline. If you’re studying American History, start the book right before the revolutionary war and go through time in a chronological order using each chapter as a period of time. That way if you know what happened before something and what happened after, it’s easier to remember the whole thing as a story.
I found that when books tend to jump around from one period in history to the next they become a little bit more difficult for me to follow. Activities and essay questions that make people think are usually helpful in describing and comprehending some of the events in history. Like those projects they would make you do where you would write a letter as a patriot to the British government and you would have to dip it in tea and burn the edges to make it look authentic.
I think that history is a very interesting subject, it is different than any other subject, it is a complete reflection of the human experience, we learn from it, and hopefully do it better the next time around. Yea it is a bunch of facts and names and places, but everything that happened made today what it is.

Blog 9
It was interesting to see Mandi analyise my hat and I think that her article is really successful in describing exactly what the object of interest looks like. She had a complete detailed description of the hat and even noticed things that I never noticed about it, like the frayed triangle pointing to the logo on the hats front.
During the interview process, Mandi did a lot of observing, while I am more of a quick glance and write as much as I can, she studied the hat up and down. I feel that her observational technique of interviewing is what helped her describe the object so well.
I was refreshing to talk with Mandi about the Hats logo and Origin. We both had an original Nintendo growing up, and both spend countless hours, in front of it, jamming our fingers on those four button controllers. There was duck hunt and Super Mario, all on the same game, I think Mandi put it best when she said the world was a "Simpler Place."
I think that the most interesting part about this exercise was to see somebody elses experiance with something that was a big part of my childhood.

BLOG 8
After Surveying my partner Mandi, I was pressed to find an article of clothing to talk about. Then I noticed her Black Knitted pullover that also covered her like a gigantic turtle-neck. The article of clothing looked extremely warm, stylish, and had a since of elegance to it. This article reminded me of my mother so I was pressed to ask about what she liked about this pull over and in return I found out a lot about her.
First off, Mandi Bought this piece of clothing a couple of months ago at a store referred to as, "Forever 21" she likes shopping here because you can get stylish clothes for an affordable price.
The Garment was extremely unique, and looked equally as comfortable. From speaking with Mandi I got the since that her personality reflected the over-coat.
When I asked her whether she preferred Fashion over Comfort she said not necessarily, however she loves to wear stilettos when ever she goes out and ironically, they do not hurt her feet. Mandi would much rather be comfortable because it allows her to focus on more important things.
The one thing that she would change about this garment is to make the sleeves longer. They stop at her elbows and she would much rather them go all the way down her arms.
One of the things that she loved most about this garment was the abnormally large buttons, she said it helped make the piece look fashionable and she liked them.

BLOG 6 Act. 3
The website that I had picked for this blog is StopGlobalWarming.org. I picked a pretty well known and explored topic of global warming because there is such a strong divergence that separates both sides of the issues. There are people who believe in it and really want to do all they can to help save the enviornment, and then their are those who choose to ignore it. Before I get to the website and how it relates to Activity 3, my stance is that pollution isn't a good thing. Greed and corrupt business practices are the reason why we don't have eletric cars, and Obama 08.' (Somewhat serious in that last statement)
The first thing I really like about this website and why I think it suits audiences that would be looking into an organization like this is they have a button that if you click it, that means you are suppotive of stopping global warming. I couldn't help feel proud of my efforts to stop global warming with the click of a button, but being number 1,240,936th person to click that button is a cool way to see how many people really care about this issue.
The second thing I like about this website is how simple it is. Its layout isn't complex, or really too interesting to look at, but less is more in this situation. The site is really easy to navigate and they have tips on how you can cut back on the size of your enviornmental foot print.
The third but most important thing, which I think is the most valuable part of this site, is that you can see actual personal accounts by members and the people that run the site. These personal accounts personalize the site, making the movement much more appealing than just a couple of facts.

BLOG 5 BAZERMAN
The article that I picked for this blog is Lester Faigley's article that we read a week or two ago.In just the first page the article uses examples that I believe are not those of Faigley's to show examples of writing non-academically. He later on exams that these examples are writing processes that are usually not done in the classroom. I feel that this article is extremely important for those who are interested in becoming writers because once you get out of the academic field, much of the writing that you will be apart of is out of classroom
Faigley goes on to comment that if somebody were to research and examine the examples that he used earlier, they would "Collect and Analysis the texts the writers produce." He then goes on to say that researchers would then look at the writing and decide what choices were made in composing the piece. He also pulls many different pieces from his colleges in the same field and uses actual examples of non academic writing to show exactly how the professionals do it in other non writing fields. He uses a passage from an actual anthropologist on page 56 to help him explain his position.
